There has only been three times in this life that I have dressed all in white. I grew up with “hard” well water that stained all our white things yellow. I also grew with pale Germanic skin. White suited neither my complexion, nor my lifestyle.
And yet, I am charmed by its all encompassing newness. The white curtains on this door to welcome and reflect the dawn of a new day. And my New Days that led to me dressing in all white, to be born again. My baptism and confirmation, being raised in the Lutheran church. I was born again to Christ. My wedding day as a twenty one year old bride. I was born again as a wife.
I have since left the church. And the husband.
Today, in accordance with tradition, I am dressing all in white again for my Kundalini training. I carefully selected my whites with my daughter, who also now has whites. It reminded me of shopping with my mother for my confirmation gown. I washed and packed them with more reverence than I typically treat, well… anything. That was my indicator that this weekend maybe more than I thought. The support that has surrounded me on this journey. The ability to come home to me. The sacredness of hearing my own breath and bathing my sweet body. The love of a lifetime.
Today, I am baptized into a marriage with my Soul. May we serve each other in unity. May we always be happy together. In Lak’esh
